I forgot my Chinchilla Tokens: Restless Experience with Solana

I am writing this article as a desperate attempt to help others who are in a similar situation, hoping that it may be a warning or guide to those who are about to survive the same ordeal.

Recently, I experienced a troublesome and worrying problem on my Solana account. Specifically, the tokens known as “chinchilla” (more information below) have never been in my wallet, despite many attempts to recover them.

Setup:

Chinchilla is an access key designed by Phantom, a popular decentralized exchange platform to trade in cryptocurrencies. Based on its documents and guidelines for the platform community, phantoms were allowed to spend chips on other wallets, including those who do not belong to the consumer himself. This means that when I got the Chinchilla Tokens as a Phantom chip owner, I didn’t really have them.

Question:

Unknown, Phantom took control of my account and used it to release Chinchilla chips on behalf of other wallets. When I tried to remove these chips from Solana, I was told that they were no longer in my wallet because of a phantom transaction or swap.

Problem:

My USDC (United States dollar) was also taken from my wallet and I didn’t get it. Phantom seems to secretly removed Chinchilla’s chips and moved them to their own or other users’ account, which were not allowed to receive these tokens.

Tips for others

To avoid similar questions in the future:

1

2.

  • Check Phantom Users Identity

: Be careful when you get chips from unknown wallets as this may mean phantom operation.

  • Immediately contact Phantom support : If you suspect fraud fraud or illegal activity in your account, please report it immediately for Phantom customer service.

Conclusion

Although I am disappointed with my experiences related to Chinchilla and lose money, I hope this article has given some insight into what may have happened. By understanding the risk and taking precautions, users can reduce their ability to become a victim of this type of fraud.
